Grow your own picnic

Today the Nursery class spent a very enjoyable morning in Finnegans Garden Centre.  It was part of their new schools initiative which aims to give children practical hands on experience of growing flowers, fruit and vegetables.  It broadens their knowledge of the growth process through fun and interaction.  Over the next three months we will visit the garden centre to observe changes in what we planted today.  Today we planted, sweet pea, potatoes and strawberries.  The project is called “Grow your own picnic”, we will enjoy a tasty picnic at the end of June.  The children’s behaviour, manners and engagement were exemplary – great little ambassadors for St Mary’s.  Thanks to the staff of Finnegans for making us feel so welcome, we are looking forward to our next visit.
