Tuesday, June 14th 2018 will go down as a historic day for St Mary’s, as the school achieved its very first Eco Schools Green Flag. It’s the culmination of three years of hard work by pupils, staff, parents and the local community.
Our Eco committee members were thrilled to receive the good news from the assessors and asked Mr McDonnell to call a special outdoor assembly to inform the rest of the school before home time. They also plan to hold a special ceremony to raise the flag on the pole for the first time before the end of the academic year. Unfortunately, some committee members had to leave school early today and missed the assembly, but they will be in attendance for the flag ceremony.
Finally, the work doesn’t stop here, as the school will look for other areas to improve upon in the years ahead!
