It was an exciting day at St Mary’s as we welcomed the “Waste Beater Education Bus” to our school. This event was organised by our Eco Committee to continue the promotion of responsible waste management ahead of the implementation of our new bin network in the third term.
KS1 pupils planted a seed in a compost filled newspaper plant pot, while KS2 pupil took part in a waste quiz, using the hi-tech consoles. Noel Lyons, also showed the children a range of items that he created using recycled materials, including pencils, wallets and backpacks.
Thanks to Newry Mourne and Down DC for facilitating the event and a special thanks to Noel who was a huge hit with the pupils.
