Sport’s Day By Paula MulkernsJune 19, 2022Board of Gov, Latest News, School Life, School News, Sports Dear Parent / Guardian, Whole School Sports Day is planned for Tuesday, June 21st (weather permitting). In recent days, there has been a rising incidence of COVID-19 cases in the school and local community. While government restrictions have been removed, there still remains a threat to health, as well as an issue for those who are planning on going on holidays and are required to be COVID free. Therefore, whilst limited access to the school grounds is permitted, we must keep the mixing of groups to a minimum. A suggestion for parents, who wish to attend, is to view proceedings from the Main Carpark or from along the path at the Bog Road. Unfortunately access into the school buildings/grounds will continue to be restricted to visitors. All children should wear a tracksuit / shorts and bring along a hat, sun cream and a bottle of water. In the interest of child protection, it is our school’s policy that photographs/videos should not be recorded by Parents/Guardians. Proceedings will begin at approximately 9.30am. In the event of inclement weather, a post will be made on the school website / social media pages early on Tuesday morning to notify parents if Sports Day has to be rearranged. P7 pupils will operate an ice–cream stand. If pupils wish to have an ice-cream, they can take in £1 and give it to their teacher when the roll is being taken on Tuesday morning. Any profit will be donated to school funds. Each class has been designated a county and pupils can wear something with the colour of their county on Sports Day, if they wish. The list of classes & counties is given below.Girls from P4-P7 will spend the first half of Sports Day at Mullaghbawn GAA Grounds for a “Camogie Fun Day”. They will take part in their full programme of events in the afternoon when they return from the football club. We look forward to a day of fun as the end of the school year approaches.
