This weekend, the GAA are holding a National “Referee Respect Day,” to highlight the importance of all players and mentors showing respect towards match officials. To amrk the event, P6 and P7 welcomed local referee, Michael Loftus, in for a workshop to find out more about refereeing.
The children all prepared questions in advance and found out lots of information about the rules of Gaelic Football, Hurling, Ladies Football and Camogie, as well as Michael’s refereeing experience in general. Sincere thanks to Michael for taking the time out to come in and speak with the children.
Pupils have learned that is never OK to abuse others, and this includes on the playing fields. If we have no referees, we have no games. More information on GAA respect day can be found on the link below.
