October Newsletter
2018
Dear Parents,
The topics this month are Autumn and Halloween and our colours are Orange and Black. We will talk about Autumn leaves, colours, weather, fruit and animals. Halloween will be taught with sensitivity, as we are aware that some of the children get very frightened during this time.
The school will be closed on Monday 29th of October and re-open on Monday 5th of November for mid-term break. On Friday 26th October we will be hosting our Annual Halloween Fancy Dress party. More details will follow closer to the date. Parent/teacher meetings will take place towards the end of the month – times and dates to follow.
This month we will be starting to attend whole school assembly on a Friday morning. As part of the school’s policy in promoting good behaviour and a positive attitude towards school and each other, a weekly class certificate is given out. This is presented by Master McDonnell in front of the whole school, so it is viewed as very important. It is the school’s intention that every child should receive a certificate at least once during their time at St Mary’s Mullaghbawn.
Please encourage your child to become more independent by taking off/on their own coats and jumpers. Also a reminder to clearly label all parts of their uniform and to ensure they have a change of clothes in the cloakroom. Please give them plenty of encouragement to feed themselves using a knife and fork. Toys are not permitted into Nursery from home as they can get misplaced or broken, we ask your co-operation on this matter. All dinner money should be paid directly to the school’s office and afterschool money should be paid directly to Mrs McKinley.
We are planning on transforming the Nursery garden path into a sensory path so we are looking for assistance to help with the manual work . Any offers of help will be greatly received.
The date for the Nursery Christmas play is Thursday 13th of December and our Nursery Santa trip will be on Friday 14th of December.
Thank you for your continued support and co-operation.
Regards,
Paula Byrne
