Scoil Spreagtha Gold Award Winners!

Tá muid iontach bródúil inniu –  We are very proud today – We have a gold award!!
Today the school was invited to attend an event in Ulster University to celebrate the school’s participation in the pilot year of the scheme ‘Scoil Spreagtha’ – an Irish language initiative to encourage the learning and teaching of Gaeilge in non Irish-Medium primary schools.
While it was an honour to have our efforts this year recognised and receive our certificate for our participation, we were blown away to then receive a Gold Award for our school – one of only two schools at the event who received this!
The pupils have immersed themselves fully in the programme this year, and have demonstrated a wonderful aptitude not only for the Irish language, but fantastic talents in ceol, amhrán agus damhsa.
The pupils who attended today are exceptional ambassadors for Irish in our school and did us very proud. We are excited to continue on our Scoil Spreagtha journey as the scheme remains funded for next year and we hope to build on the wonderful work of the pupils this year.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh to all the children for their hard work which led to today’s achievement.
Special thanks also to Una Walsh for her work with the children this year to help us connect our learning in Irish to our local place names and legends.
As the old proverb goes, Ní neart go cur le chéile – there is no strength without unity, and we are very grateful for our wonderful families, pupils, teachers and wider community who work together to allow days like today to happen.
