Pupils were informed at last Friday’s Assembly about an exciting opportunity for 4 St Mary’s Pupils, (P3-P7) to take music or singing lessons with TAPS, through a very generous scholarship scheme.

Please see below a letter with further information and if interested pick up an application form, from the School Office and return before the end of the week.

Traditional Arts Partnership

30/09/2024

Dear Parents/Guardians

Traditional Arts Partnership have been offering lessons in music and singing in St Mary’s Primary School for the past 12 years. More recently we have been offering Irish Language classes. We would like to express our gratitude to St Mary’s Primary School and its community for their support.

As a huge thank you for the continued support offered through St Mary’s Primary School, Traditional Arts Partnership are excited to offer four scholarships for students to take part in music or singing lessons for the upcoming school year. Traditional Arts Partnership will cover the cost of music lessons and will provide either a tin whistle, bodhran, fiddle or guitar. If you have another instrument at home that you could use and would prefer to learn, we will facilitate the music lessons.

Our lessons take place in St Mary’s Primary School on a Thursday evening from 5pm – 9pm and follow the school term times.

The scholarship is open to children in St Mary’s Primary School from Primary 3 to Primary 7 on the following instruments: whistle, fiddle, guitar, bodhran and singing.  Additionally, we are happy to extend this opportunity to parents who may wish to participate in adult lessons alongside their children, making this a wonderful experience for families.

If your child is interested in being considered for a scholarship, please complete the attached form and return it to the school by the end of the week. Those selected for the scholarship will be informed in due course.

We look forward to continuing Traditional Arts Partnership lessons with students and families of St Mary’s Primary School.

Kind regards

Elaine O’Sullivan & The TAP Committee
