A reminder to our “Strings” pupils in P5 and P6, that your lesson which was due to have taken place this morning, was rescheduled for tomorrow Tuesday. Please bring your instruments with you, in the morning.
Last Thursday afternoon saw the “Finals Day” competition for St Mary’s Cross Country 2021. Over the previous 3 weeks, pupils from P4-P7 practised 3 times per week. There was a great improvement across the board and some serious determination on display. Keeping active remains such an important aspect of our pupils’ daily lives as it helps to bring about a positive impact on their physical and mental health.
All pupils from P4-P7 were presented with certificates to commend them for their efforts over the past 3 weeks. There were also medals for 1st / 2nd / 3rd place in each race. Check out some of the photos below from a great afternoon’s fun. Well done to each and every pupil who took part!
Next up in this Summer term is Sports Day, which will also have to be a little different this year. More information coming very soon…
Anyone wishing to purchase school photographs must return their order form with payment by this Thursday, 3rd June. This is to ensure delivery before the end of the school term. After Thursday orders can still be placed, but must be made by Parents/Guardians directly with the Photographer.
Introducing Libraries NI Summer Reading Challenge: 19 June – 18 September 2021
Have you heard of the “Wild World Heroes”?
It’s an exciting Summer Reading Challenge produced by The Reading Agency and delivered in partnership with libraries and the WWF for a very special nature themed challenge that will inspire children to stand up for the planet!
How does it work?
The Summer Reading Challenge will take place from 19 June until 18 September. Children can
sign up at their local library, choose their reading goal then read any books to collect special
stickers and other rewards along the way – all for FREE. It will feature amazing books, awesome rewards and plenty of ideas for taking care of the environment. There is a digital platform too, so the fun can carry on at home!
Children can read whatever they like in their chosen format – fiction, fact books, poetry, joke
books, picture books, graphic novels, audio books and eBooks. Everyone who completes their
personal challenge will receive a special certificate and medal from their Library.
Events and activities will take place throughout the summer online- Check out the Libraries NI website for further information and get reading!
If your child has been offered a place for either Nursery or P1 starting September 2021, please make contact with the school to confirm acceptance of your place. Please be aware that failure to do so could result in your child losing their place.
The P7 year group enjoyed a very enjoyable workshop facilitated by the “Amazing Brains” organisation today. Shane set fun and challenging tasks that got our pupils “thinking about their thinking” and understanding how amazing their brains are!
This is the latest in a series of planned activities to help the children to prepare to make the move to their new schools in September. They picked up some more hints and tips to help make that transition a more smooth and enjoyable process.
Best wishes to all our P4 Boys and Girls who make their First Holy Communion tomorrow, the whole school community is very proud of how you have prepared for this very special day.
For all your family and friends who would like to share the occasion with you, a link is given below to the live stream from St Mary’s Church. The link will be the same for both ceremonies.
