Next week celebrates World Book Day so we have a variety of activities planned to promote reading for pleasure. We actively encourage children of all ages to lift a book and get lost in a story. The benefits of reading are very well documented, a child who enjoys a book has an enriched vocabulary, an active imagination and significantly better Literacy skills. Each child will receive a £1 Book token which can be redeemed through a variety of retailers. You are encouraged to visit the World Book Day online site which offers age appropriate book recommendations and a wealth of strategies to promote reading within your home.
Next Friday the 3rd , all children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Please do not feel under any pressure to purchase a costume for this event, a character can be re-created with whatever you have available. We will have a costume parade at assembly and a range of fun quizzes and competitions for all. It promises to be a really enjoyable day.
