Dakota visitors

We were delighted to welcome to our school this morning Ramona, Gillian and Anthony from the Dakota and Ojibwe Tribes in America. Our guests were accompanied by Rita, whose ancestors emigrated to America over 150 years ago from Co Clare. P6 and 7 enjoyed listening to our guest’s stories and how their cultural identity is very important in their lives.

Thank you to all the musicians, dancers and storytellers from P4-P7 who shared with our guests a short snippet of how dance, music and storytelling plays a key part in our lives also.

We ended our “Sharing of Culture” session with Gillian teaching us two round dances in the sunshine with the glorious Slieve Gullion as our backdrop.

A big thank you to Fergal O’ Brien TAPS for organising the visit
