P6 make time each day to read and complete a daily reading activity based on their class novel, “A Twist of Gold” by Michael Morpurgo. Over the past two weeks they have submitted an amazing range of work: writing, drawing, researching, making and of course reading. Why? Because they know that reading makes us:
1. Good Communicators
Reading books improves our vocabulary and our communications skills, allowing us to express our thoughts and ideas better.
2. Educated
Through books, we learn about how things work, understand different cultures, and comprehend the history of things. We can learn new languages, how to improve ourselves and even how to build things.
3. Healthy
The more we read, the more we stimulate our minds and our thinking skills and memories improve.
4. Stress Free
Books help us relieve tension and to relax, they allow us to immerse ourselves in another world, free of stress and anxiety .
5. Motivated
Books have the power to inspire and motivate us with stories of people who have made succeeded despite the odds. They encourage us never to give up, to keep moving forward, and to stay positive.
6. Creative
Books whether fiction or non- fiction can take us on adventures and inspire us to visualize new lands, dimensions, and alternate universes, igniting our imagination, opening up our minds to new possibilities, stimulating innovative and inventive ideas.
So P6’s recommendation is to pick up a book, find a quiet spot, indoors or out and immerse yourself in a good read whilst P6 take a well deserved rest over the weekend.
