P6 pupils had a very enjoyable visit to Glasnevin Cemetery, Dublin where they got to hear many fascinating stories related to our Irish History. The most interesting story was that of Grave Robbers in the 19th Century.
Pupils visited the graves of Charles Stewart Parnell, Roger Casement, Grace Clifford Plunkett, Eamonn de Valera, Michael Collins and many more.
The highlight of the tour was entering the crypt of Daniel O’Connell “The Liberator” where pupils were able to touch his coffin and read his famous last words:
‘My body to Ireland, my heart to Rome, my soul to heaven’
