Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

I write to inform you that St. Mary’s Primary and Nursery School underwent a “Sustaining Improvement Inspection” on Monday, 26th of November 2018.

The outcome of this Inspection has been influenced by ongoing and legitimate industrial action.

Non- cooperation with the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI), involved all teaching staff and myself, where we did not present or complete any documentation or teach in front of ETI.

However, as advised by INTO (Trade Union) and our employers CCMS we did complete a “Safe Guarding Proforma”, which was presented to the Reporting Inspector. In addition the Reporting Inspector interviewed a compliment of Primary 6 Pupils.

Because of the action, short of strike, the ETI was unable to evaluate fully, or discuss with staff the outworking of the arrangements for Safe Guarding in our school.

I wish to assure you that Safe Guarding arrangements at St Mary’s is comparable to best practice in other schools and the quality of teaching and learning remains very high.

You can view the report at  : www.etini.gov.uk

Yours Sincerely,

Peter Mc Donnell

Principal
