Letter to Parents/Guardians

Dear Parents / Guardians,

We are putting a very challenging year behind us and moving on to 2022 with high expectations of better times ahead.

I anticipate a full return to school on Wednesday, 5th January 2022 despite the current surge of infection.

We in St Mary’s wish to thank you sincerely for the great generosity, understanding and kindness afforded to us throughout the year but particularly to express our gratitude for the spectacular support given to our Sponsored Walk which raised an amazing £5,335. These funds will assist us greatly in developing a dedicated sensory room within the school to cater for the emotional health and well-being of our pupils.

2021 has brought an unprecedented number of bereavements among past pupils and former school staff: We remember, Mrs Caroline McCarthy (nee McCoy), Mrs Mary McCann, Mrs Geraldine Mc Namee (nee Grant), Mr Paddy McCoy, Mrs Helen O’Hare and Mrs Peggy Kelly. We continue to pray for all deceased members of our school community and extend our sincere sympathy to the families of all the deceased.

Finally, on behalf of all our staff and Governors I would like to wish each and every family a wonderful Christmas.  We pray that it will be a time for joy, celebration and hope for the New Year to come.

Yours sincerely

Peter McDonnell
