A huge thanks to Mr Gartland from Our Lady’s Grammar School in Newry, who took the P6 class for a coding workshop using Scratch software today. The children planned a pacman style game and inputted instructions to bring their ideas to life on screen. The session was very well planned and tailored to primary level, which enabled the pupils to achieve a great amount in the timeframe. The children now have an improved understanding of the mechanisms of coding and it could well spark a flame for a future career amongst some.
Thanks also to past pupils Caitlin, Rhiannon and Caitlin for their great assistance this morning. The three girls are St Mary’s past pupils and are great ambassadors for both their current and past schools.
