Workshop for P6 and P7 Parents/Guardians

Dear P6 + P7 Parents/Guardians,

As part of our P.D.M.U. curriculum (Personal Development and Mutual Understanding) over the past number of years we have offered a programme to our Primary 7’s called “Preparing for Change”. Feedback from last year’s P7 cohort suggested that the programme might be of more use if delivered earlier in the school year and indeed perhaps the P6 year. So we are inviting P6 Parents and P7 Parents to a workshop next Tuesday, 23rd of January 7:00 pm- 9:00pm in the Assembly Hall.

The programme is delivered by Joanne Callan Founder of Changing Cycles Community Interest Company and Class Teachers. It focuses on 3 main elements that educate, empower and support Pupils and their Parents/Guardians for the changes that they will face in the years ahead.

The 3 Elements are:

  • Changing Schools: Building Resilience and Growth Mindset at times of Change.
  • Changing Bodies: Understanding the changes that will take place physically, emotionally and mentally.
  • Changing Friendships: Building Health Relationships, Healthy Communication, understanding the power of our words and actions.

The Programme is delivered through:

A Parent Workshop – (next Tuesday night), For your child to take part in the programme a Parent must attend the Parent Workshop, this is to ensure Home and School are using the same approach. We encourage Dads to take part as well as Mums!

Content will cover: How to strengthen and nurture the relationship with your Pre – Teen, how to prepare them for puberty and the world that they will grow up in and ensure that they feel educated, empowered and supported.

Pupil Workshops – These will be delivered to Pupils by Joanne Callan with support from Class Teacher, (dates to be confirmed).

A note will be sent home tomorrow with details, so please check school bags!

We look forward to meeting you on the night,

P Mulkerns + C Crawley + Mr Mc Coy
